John Krasinski’s dedicated flights

John Krasinski flew home "every weekend" when filming ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ to spend time with his family.
The 38-year-old actor has daughters Hazel, four, and Violet, two, with his wife Emily Blunt, and has said that despite the gruelling shooting schedule for the new Amazon show, he never missed out on a weekend with his brood as he made sure to jump on a plane at the end of each week.
He said: "Family for me, it’s a non-negotiable thing. So if I’m honest, I was shooting 6,000 miles away from them, and I flew back every single weekend."
At the time, Emily was filming ‘Mary Poppins’ in London, and so John had to board a plane bound for the UK each weekend in order to fit in quality time with his wife and children.
He added: "Emily was shooting a little indie movie called ‘Mary Poppins’. So they were with her, and we always set up a base, and I always want the base to be with their mom, and I’ll do the flight time."
The former ‘Office’ star admits the journey was "brutal", but says he knows how "lucky" he was to able to jump on a plane on a whim to visit family across the globe.
Speaking to People magazine, he said: "I think that there’s nothing you can complain about in this business, you know what I mean? We are all so lucky to be doing what we’re doing. If there’s one thing that’s a bummer, it’s that you spend time away from your kids. But guess what, a lot of people spend time away from their kids. So for me, I think we’re all living in a fantasy camp. So I’m not going to be the first one to complain."
John’s confession comes after his ‘Jack Ryan’ co-star Dina Shihabi echoed his statements earlier this week.
Speaking about John, she said: "He flew basically every weekend to London, where Emily was shooting ‘Mary Poppins’, to be with his kids. He would wrap at like 5 a.m. on a Saturday morning, get on the next flight to London, and then come back Sunday night."
