John Barrowman vows he’ll be a tough DOI judge

John Barrowman has vowed to be a tough ‘Dancing On Ice’ judge.
The 52-year-old performer has replaced Jason Gardiner on the show’s panel and John insisted he is not going to go easy on the contestants, despite being a former competitor on the show himself.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: "I’m not going to be a wimp. I’m going to be critical. If the contestants are cr*p I’ll tell them they’re cr*p. But I’ll do it in a polite way to motivate them.
"I’m looking for commitment, I’m looking for a good work ethic and I’m looking for them entertaining.
"If their partnerships aren’t good and they’re not entertaining and not stepping up to the plate, then they’re going to hear from me and they’re going to be told."
John is confident that his previous experience as a contestant in 20006 will make him a good judge.
He said: "I think I’ll be a good judge. I know what I’m talking about. I’ve be a contestant myself and according to Christopher Dean and Jayne Torvill I was one of the best skaters.
"I know about the skating aspect and there’s also the performance aspect to this show.
"I’ve been in the business for 30 years in musicals and TV and the recording industry. I kind of know what I’m talking about."
John previously revealed he hasn’t spoken to Jason since accepting the ‘Dancing On Ice’ role after the acid-tongued judge quit the ITV show over the summer.
He said: "I haven’t spoken to Jason since I got the role. We have Instagrammed each other and liked some posts, I haven’t rung him.
"I wouldn’t say I am replacing Jason, he decided to leave, so I look at it as a new start and a new show. There is a new energy. I’m excited."
