Jing Tian will team up with John Boyega for Pacific Rim 2

Jing Tian has signed up to join John Boyega in ‘Pacific Rim 2’.
After talks, the 28-year-old Chinese actress – known for her roles in ‘The Warring States’ and ‘Police Story’ – has agreed to star in the sci-fi action film.
Legendary Pictures has announced that Tian will also appear alongside Scott Eastwood in the film which is being directed by Steven S. DeKnight.
It is not yet known who Tian will play but Boyega will portray the son of Idris Elba’s character Stacker Pentecost from the first ‘Pacific Rim’ movie, which was directed by Guillermo del Toro.
Del Toro returns to produce this sequel alongside Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, Boyega and Femi Oguns under Upper Room Productions.
Meanwhile Cale Boyter will be executive producer.
Filmmakers will hope ‘Pacific Rim 2’ does equally as well as the first, which banked $411 million at the box office worldwide.
The story was centred on Earth at war with the Kaiju – monsters from the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
The original film starred Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi, Elba, Charlie Day and Robert Kazinsky.
Filming on the sequel is expected to begin in November in Australia, with some scenes being filmed in China and it is scheduled for a February 2018 release.
Fans who cannot wait until then will be able to catch Tian in ‘The Great Wall’ as well as ‘Kong: Skull Island’.
