Jimmy Essex happy with ‘shocking’ Hollyoaks exit

Jimmy Essex was "really happy" with his "shocking" ‘Hollyoaks’ exit storyline.
The 33-year-old star bowed out of the Channel 4 soap in dramatic circumstances earlier this week when his character Adam Donovan was shot dead by his own father, Glenn Donovan (Bob Cryer), and the actor enjoyed going out in a blaze of glory because it made his on-screen dad even more "evil".
He said: "I’m really happy with the exit.
"I think it’s really, really shocking. I like the build-up to it – the good guy gone bad and then it turns back round, but then it’s too late.
"It makes Glenn, Bob’s character, so evil, doesn’t it? I like that."
Jimmy grew in confidence during his two-and-a-half year stint as Adam, after being so nervous he "forgot how to walk" when he uttered his first lines in the Chester village in April 2016.
He said: "I was so nervous, that I spent about a week learning them through and through. It was awful.
"I forgot how to walk. I was walking same arms and legs because I was that nervous.
"It was horrible. I feel more comfortable doing it now."
Jimmy has thanked the fans, cast and crew for their support on the show, admitting he had the "best" time.
Speaking in a video on the ‘Hollyoaks’ YouTube channel, he added: "I have had the best, best, best two and a half years ever."
Jimmy will be missed on the show by fans and cast members alike, including Anna Passey (Sienna Blake), who is looking forward to seeing the star’s first post-‘Hollyoaks’ role.
She wrote on Twitter: "All of our working days just got a little less beautiful! @Jimmy_Essex you were incredible and we shall miss you terribly.Cant wait to see what you do next (sic)"
