Jessie J inspired by Whitney Houston

Jessie J says Whitney Houston has been the biggest influence on her career.

The 26-year-old singer will never forget the emotional impact the late diva’s voice had on her and she always returns to Whitney’s songs when she is in need of inspiration.

Paying tribute to Whitney – who passed away in February 2012 – on stage at London’s Eventim Apollo on Thursday night (29.01.15) as she covered her 1993 hit ‘I Have Nothing’, Jessie said: ”No other artist made me feel like she did. I sang this song on my first audition ever. This is to remind myself that I can sing.”

Elsewhere during her 17-track set, Jessie performed many of her greatest hits her 2010 breakthrough track ‘Do It Like a Dude’, ‘Domino’ and ‘Price Tag’.

The pop star’s set was also packed with songs from her current LP ‘Sweet Talker’, including ‘Seal Me With a Kiss’, ‘Burnin’ Up’, ‘Keep Us Together’, ‘Ain’t Been Done’ and ‘Masterpiece’.

Jessie ended her sell-out show with her global smash hit ‘Bang Bang’ – her collaboration with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj – which is nominated for the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy Award.
