Jennifer Lawrence played prostitute in church play

Jennifer Lawrence played a prostitute as a child in a church play.

The ‘American Hustle’ star learnt how to perform for audiences during a production about ‘The Book of Jonah’ and her mum claims she stole the show.

According to The Sun newspaper, her mother Karen said: "This little extra called Jennifer just took over. She played the best prostitute."

Lawrence, who missed out on a Best Supporting Actress Oscar to ’12 Years a Slave’ star Lupita Nyong’o at the ceremony on Sunday (02.03.14), is now having a year-long break from making films.

Karen continued: "Her Oscar schedule was basically in minutes and milli-minutes so it is exhausting for her.

"All these awards shows are not so glamorous for her because it’s work and it’s exhausting.

"I know her favourite thing to do is work then come home, eat up all the popcorn, put on her pyjamas and do nothing."

The 23-year-old star has been working non-stop appearing in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise and ‘X-Men’ series, along with other films, and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein feels she deserves a break from the industry.

He said: "Jennifer is too nice and will do people favours and agrees to do movies like ‘American Hustle’ when she could have had a rest."
