James Nesbitt asks Guy Garvey to pen Cold Feet theme tune

James Nesbitt has asked Elbow’s Guy Garvey to pen the new opening theme tune for ‘Cold Feet’ ahead of its return.
The popular comedy-drama series is set to explode on to television screens later this year following 13 years off air and the 51-year-old actor is determined to make it as memorable as possible by asking the 42-year-old singer to work with I Am Kloot’s Peter Jobson to come up with a song.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "James personally asked Guy and Peter to write a track just for the show.
"He wanted it to be performed by two Mancs and to possess a Manchester theme, as that’s where Cold Feet is set. He’s obviously chuffed he’s pulled off both targets."
The song has been given the name ‘The Rover Returns’, a reference to ITV’s other show ‘Coronation Street’s fictional pub, and is freshened version of the track ‘Female Of The Species’ used in the original series back in 1998.
Executive producer Kenton Allen said: "It’s great to give a nod to the rich musical heritage of Manchester with Guy and Pete’s beautiful new composition."
Meanwhile, James will be joined by Robert Bathurst, Fay Ripley, John Thomson and Hermione Norris as he reprises his role as serial womaniser Adam Williams in the drama.
Helen Baxendale won’t be making an appearance as her character Rachel Bradley was killed in a car crash in 2003.
The eight-part comedy, which is being written by Mike Bullen and produced by Rebecca Ferguson, will take over from ‘Downton Abbey’s Sunday night slot on ITV after the period drama sadly ended last year following five years on screen.
