James Corden’s Grammys Carpool Karaoke

James Corden took a celebrity-filled cardboard car through the Grammy Awards audience for a ‘Carpool Karaoke’-inspired performance.
The evening’s host had been tipped to pre-record a special version of his popular ‘Late Late Show’ segment – which features huge artists joining him for a drive and a singalong of their biggest hits – but instead opted for a low-budget version that saw the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Neil Diamond, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Jason Derulo, and John Legend cram into and around his cardboard vehicle to sing to Neil’s ‘Sweet Caroline’.
And even Beyonce and Jay Z’s five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy and her friend joined in with the fun at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, much to James’ surprise.
Earlier on Sunday (12.02.17) evening, after Adele opened the show with a performance of ‘Hello’, James experienced a string of fake "technical difficulties", including malfunctioning steps, falling down a hole and losing a shoe, before scolding his dancers and ordering him off stage.
He said: "This is a disaster. We cannot allow these sort of mistakes, this is the Grammys people!"
He then launched into a rap about what was in store for the evening, including Beyonce performing "with twins in her tummy", Lady Gaga and Metallica, Bruno Mars and Maren Morris, before ending with a dig at President Donald Trump.
He rapped:"Wishes came true, we celebrate you, you gotta be thankful that this what you do, live it all up because this is the best, and with President Trump, we don’t know what comes next.
"We sit here tonight, no matter our race, or where we were born or colour of face, using this art remembered forever, we can survive just by sticking together."
Elsewhere during the evening, the 38-year-old presenter enlisted his parents Margaret and Malcolm for another sketch.
James explained how they had come along to support him, even though it was their 45th wedding anniversary, but when he went to introduce them to the cameras he suddenly stopped.
He exclaimed: "Dad, what are you doing with Heidi Klum?"
The camera revealed Malcolm was sitting in an aisle seat with the German supermodel sitting on his lap and his dad quipped: "Well, your mom and I have an understanding and I used my free pass tonight."
Heidi said: "What are you gonna say James? He’s the cutest!"
And James then discovered his mother was sitting with Nick Jonas.
The ‘Jealous’ hitmaker said: "Sorry James, your mom’s a lovely woman."
