James Buckley sending fan videos as Inbetweeners character

James Buckley is getting paid to send fans abusive video messages as his ‘Inbetweeners’ character.

The 32-year-old actor – who played Jay Cartwright in the popular E4 sitcom – has been reprising the role on celebrity service Cameo, which sees stars recording personalised greetings for their fans.

In one clip, James channelled the foul-mouthed character and said: "Happy Birthday – you birthday w***er.

"They tell me you’re turning 18. Ooh, look at me, I’m 18 years old now, I can go into the pub and buy a pint."

While some celebrities charge vast amounts for their Cameo clips, James’ fans can buy one for around £40.

The hit comedy show – in which he starred alongside Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison – originally ran from 2008 to 2010 on E4, with the three series spawning two big screen movies in 2011 and 2014.

Although another season seems unlikely, creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley recently revealed they still keep in touch with the cast, and they would love to work together again one day.

Iain said: "I love everybody involved in it so much, and we all still talk, and we’ve got a hilarious WhatsApp group.

"And, you know, I can’t imagine not doing something with them ever again. I don’t know if it would be ‘The Inbetweeners.’ "

The duo haven’t had any "brilliant ideas" for the characters, but they think it would be easy to film once they have a script.

Damon added: "If we could think of something and thought, ‘Oh, that’s a brilliant idea for those four characters!’ I think it would be the easiest thing in the world to just go back there and do it."
