Jacqueline Jossa’s ‘weird’ Soap Awards win

Jacqueline Jossa found it "weird" sharing her British Soap Awards prize with ‘Doctors’.
The 25-year-old actress – who played Lauren Branning in ‘EastEnders’ – and her on-screen sister Lorna Fitzgerald’s (Abi Branning) dramatic fall from the Queen Vic roof was named Scene of the Year at the recent ceremony, but for the first time ever the accolade was tied between the clip and the daytime show’s Bollywood proposal.
While Jacqueline admits ‘Doctors’ also deserved to win, she wasn’t expecting a tie.
She said: "It felt like a nice way to round off my time at ‘EastEnders’.
"I was really proud of the work we did on the scene so I was glad I was recognised.
"It felt a bit weird to share the award with ‘Doctors’ but they were all lovely and definitely deserved it."
Jacqueline is just a few weeks away from giving birth to her second child with estranged husband Dan Osborne – the father of her three-year-old daughter Ella – and she’s not sure if she should have attended the Soap Awards because she found the occasion so draining.
She said: "They were the same day as my baby shower so I was very tired the next day.
"It was so lovely seeing all the ‘EastEnders’ cast, but in hindsight, it was probably a bit close to my due date to be going to such a big event.
"Everyone was joking that my waters were going to break!"
Eastenders’ rival soap ‘Coronation Street’ was the big winner on the night and though Jacqueline thinks they "deserved" their huge haul of prizes, she also felt ‘EastEnders’ should have received more recognition.
She added to OK! magazine: "It’s always a bit disappointing, but ‘Coronation Street’ has had a really strong year so they deserved every award they got.
"I sometimes feel ‘EastEnders’ doesn’t get the recognition he deserves but all the soaps are doing amazing so there is serious competition."
