Hilary Duff: People ‘don’t need to know’ about my relationships

Hilary Duff kept her romance with Jason Walsh a secret because she felt people didn’t "need to know".
The 29-year-old actress split from the personal trainer in November just one month after going public with their relationship, but has said she kept fans in the dark about her romance – which lasted six months – because she didn’t want to share "the ins and outs of everything".
She said: "We were seeing each other for a while. People don’t know the ins and outs of everything. It was definitely my first more serious relationship since my ex-husband."
When the ‘Younger’ actress – who has four-year-old son Luca with her ex-husband Mike Comrie – was finally ready to tell the world, she did so in an Instagram post because she felt the time was "right".
She added to Cosmopolitan magazine’s February issue: "I was like, ‘F**k it. He’s my boyfriend.’ I just needed to make sure it was right. People don’t need to know my business until I really know my business, you know?"
Hilary and Jason called time on their romance two months ago, as a source said the pair weren’t "on the same page" when it came to their relationship.
The insider said: "They weren’t on the same page. He wants to move to New York, but her life is in Los Angeles."
The news comes after Hilary admitted she is scared of being with the same person forever.
She shared: "I have dreams and aspirations, but I’ve never really been one of those people who has set dates: ‘I’m this age, so this, this and this needs to happen.’ That’s just not really realistic. I have a kid.
"My life is very fully, so I feel blessed and lucky. There are still things I want to do and experiences I want to have, and maybe more kids, but it’s not like it needs to happen at this time and I need to be married. All those pressures need to go away. Plus, the idea of being with one person forever is too scary to think about."
