Gregory Porter is "always" writing new music.
The ‘Liquid Spirit’ hitmaker has not long put out his fourth studio album – ‘Take Me To the Alley – but has admitted he can’t stop jotting ideas down for new music as he writes as and when he feels inspired.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I’m still working on the promo and videos for this record. But the process happens already. I don’t stop writing after the record has recorded. I am always writing whether the songs that I am writing now will make the next record, I don’t know. But I am always writing. I work on the record and write the songs when inspiration comes."
However, he admits that he is well over-due a break and he could do with a "massage" after doing around 300 shows, which he says is "intense" but fulfilling.
He said: "I do need to set aside some time or to have a vacation, maybe get a massage. I am moving everyday, I am on the road nearly 300 days. It is intense, but It feels good to be able to go out night after night and perform my music to people who are eager to hear it."
Meanwhile, the 44-year-old Jazz superstar says the one thing he misses when he is on the road is cooking for himself and he’s always on the mission to find somewhere that can muskier up a better cappuccino than his own.
Asked he misses on the road, he said: "I miss cooking. I am notorious for going on coffee shop hunts and finding the best cappuccino, with micro bubbles that are just perfect. I am in search of a cappuccino that is as good as mine."
