Great British Bake Off to have vegan week

‘The Great British Bake Off’ will have a vegan week in the new series.
Show host Noel Fielding came up with the idea of the contestants creating foodstuffs with ingredients free from animal products, and show bosses are said to have "leapt at the chance" of introducing his brainwave.
A source on the Channel 4 show said: "When Noel put forward the idea producers leapt at the chance to try something different – especially as they think it’ll appeal to younger viewers."
‘Bake Off’ bosses are said to be hoping to attract a "different demographic", thanks to Noel’s idea.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "While the show has a loyal fanbase, those in charge are keen to snap up a different demographic."
This comes after ‘Bake Off’ judge Paul Hollywood revealed the programme will go "back to basics" in the new series to make it easier for viewers to join in.
He said: "This year we have gone back to basics on a couple of challenges because we were getting a bit over-complicated.
"Sometimes it’s not just about the bakers in the tent, it’s about the people in the UK who watch the programme. We want to encourage the viewers to bake."
Paul’s comments came after his former co-judge Mary Berry – who quit the role when the programme moved from the BBC to Channel 4 – said the series had become "very intricate".
She explained: "’Bake Off’ has got quite complicated. It’s become very intricate.
"Ours is very much a teaching programme. Everything we do is achievable by people at home."
Paul will judge alongside Prue Leith in the new series, while Noel will co-host with Sandi Toksvig once again.
