Wes Nelson’s mum has drawn comparisons to Coronation Street’s Gail Platt.
The Twittersphere went into overdrive during last night’s (29.07.18) ‘Love Island’ when the 20-year-old design engineer’s mother entered the villa as part of the Meet the Parents stage of the series, and several stars and viewers likened her to Helen Worth’s alter-ego.
Nicola Coughlan – who plays Clare Devlin in Channel 4 sitcom ‘Derry Girls’ – wrote: "Wes’s mum is Gail Platt (sic)"
Several other ‘Love Island’ viewers also drew the same comparisons between Wes’ mum and the soap veteran.
One wrote: "How much does wes’s Mam look like Gail platt.. is it just me?! (sic)"
Another posted: "Wes you mum looks like Gail off corrie when she had a bod hair cut. X sorry . Lol (sic)"
One shared: "Is it me or is Wes’s mam related to Gail Platt?? (sic)"
This comes just weeks after Twitter users likened Gail – who Helen has played in the ITV soap since 1974 – to Croatian footballer Luka Modric during the World Cup in Russia.
One football fan wrote: "Modric is a double of gail platt (sic)"
Another tweeted: "cracking up at the fact that Modric looks like Gail platt from Coro (sic)"
One Twitter user shared: "I cant even look at modric anymore. All i do is laugh and think about gail platt! LOL (sic)"
Helen has become a household name after starring in ‘Corrie’ for the past five decades, making Gail the third-longest running character on the show after William Roache’s Ken Barlow and Barbara Knox’s alter-ego Rita Sullivan.
