Ferne McCann joins celebrity version of Best Home Cook

Ferne McCann is set to star in the first celebrity version of ‘Best Home Cook’.

The upcoming series – which is hosted by Claudia Winkleman and will also feature Mary Berry – will see Ferne, 30, test her cooking skills against the likes of Ed Byrne, Desiree Burch, and former MP Ed Balls.

Looking forward to the new series, Claudia said: "I’m so happy the team is back together – albeit two metres apart."

The new series will also feature the likes of Rachel Johnson and Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas, as well as actors Ruth Madeley, Tom Read Wilson, Shobna Gulati and Karim Zeroual.

Charlotte Moore, the BBC’s director of content, said: "There is going to be plenty of heat in the ‘Best Home Cook’ kitchen when we return with a new series full of a wonderful mix of celebrities serving up their favourite dishes."

Earlier this year, a TV insider claimed BBC bosses were confident that a celebrity version of ‘Best Home Cook’ would be a hit with viewers.

The show – which first aired in 2018 – was described as a "tried and tested format" that "always goes down well with viewers".

The source explained at the time: "They have shot two series of ‘Best Home Cook’, so thought they’d take the opportunity to explore a celebrity version, like many others have.

"It’s a tried and tested format, and always goes down well with viewers. The producers have plenty of time to start having a think about potential cooks to tap up for the episode, and hopefully a full series."
