EastEnders thank Neighbours for 35th birthday nod

‘EastEnders’ have thanked ‘Neighbours’ for referencing their 35th birthday.
The BBC One soap celebrated the milestone yesterday (19.02.20), and the Australian soap made a nod to the programme in their Wednesday episode by featuring a sign outside bar The Waterhole, which advertised cocktails named after EastEnders’ fictional location, Walford, and legendary families, the Mitchells, the Fowlers, and the Slaters, by naming cocktails after them.
And the British soap has raised a toast to ‘Neighbours’ for their kind gesture.
A message on the official ‘EastEnders’ Twitter account read: "Thank you to our friends, @Neighbours, for marking our 35th birthday with this nod to all things #EastEnders. We raise a toast to you from The Vic to The Waterhole. #Neighbours #EastEnders35 (sic)"
The sign on Neighbours’ episode yesterday read: "Walford Sour, Fowler Fizz, Slater Colada, Dry Mitchell"
And there was a sign advertising a "Happy Half Hour" from 7.30pm to 8pm, the time ‘EastEnders airs.
Elsewhere, several stars have wished ‘EastEnders’ a happy 35th birthday.
Pete Lawson, one of the soap’s writers, wrote: "Happy Birthday #EastEnders. Still pinch myself I’m part of this fabulous family, part of the fabric of British TV, part of something that means so much to so many. Here’s to the next 35 years! Big love (sic)"
Jo Joyner – who previously played Tanya Branning on the show – wrote: "Happy Birthday #EastEnders35 and thank you Nicola for this trip down memory lane and the aging faces of me & @mrjakedwood (sic)"
Jake Wood – who plays Tanya’s ex-husband Max Branning – tweeted: "Speak for yourself Jo
"mind you I’m sure I had a full head of hair back in. 2006!! Miss working with ya (sic)"
Linda Davidson – who played Mary ‘The Punk’ Smith in the soap – wrote: "So 35 years ago today @bbceastenders burst onto our screens. I loved this girl, she gave me so much. Happy Birthday EastEnders! #marythepunk (sic)"
