Drake releases surprise album

Drake has released a surprise mixtape.

The 28-year-old rapper has shocked fans by making the 17-track album ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ available to purchase through iTunes without any prior warning.

As well as featuring rapper Lil’ Wayne on ‘Used To’ and hip hop star Travi$ Scott on ‘Company’, the mixtape features production credits from PARTYNEXTDOOR, Boi-1da, and Shebib.

The collection follows the musician’s ‘Nothing Was the Same’ record which was released in 2013 – selling 650,000 records in its opening week – and although he had previously revealed his fourth album would be named ‘Views From the 6’, he admitted last year he had not started working on the project.

It is not known whether the new mixtape has replaced the previously announced album although it is believed the collection has been made to go alongside a 15-minute short film titled ‘Jungle’ which he released through his social media accounts on Thursday (12.02.15).

Drake’s appearance at New Look Wireless on July 3rd is expected to be his first UK performance where fans will be able to see him perform his new material.

The star will headline the event on the Friday, which will also see performances from Major Lazer, A$AP Rocky and Labrinth.

Avicii, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, among others, will take to the stage on the Saturday (04.07.15), followed by Jessie J, Clean Bandit, Nicki Minaj and David Guetta on the Sunday (05.07.15).

The tracklist for ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ is as follows:

‘Legend’

‘Energy’

’10 Bands’
