Dr Alex George and Alexandra Cane get dumped from Love Island

Dr Alex George and Alexandra Cane have been axed from ‘Love Island’.
The pair – who decided earlier this week that they were not compatible on a romantic level – have narrowly missed out on tomorrow (29.07.18) night’s final after the public chose to save Laura Anderson and Paul Knops and Kaz Crossley and Josh Denzel.
The three couples found themselves in danger on Friday (27.07.18) after the remaining constants were forced to vote for the duo they thought should leave.
After fan favourites Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham and Wes Nelson and Megan Barton Hanson failed to receive any votes, they automatically found themselves in the final.
Arriving in the villa tonight, host Caroline Flack revealed that Laura and Paul and Kaz and Josh were safe, meaning warring pair Alex and Alexandra had been dumped.
But there were no hard feelings between the semi-finalists as Alex admitted that it was the "right thing" for him to leave as he hadn’t found what he signed up for.
He said: "It’s the right thing, all you are in couples and I had my chance."
Alexandra added: "I haven’t found love in here and that’s what this show is about."
Despite failing to find a partner to leave the island with, Alex "enjoyed" his time.
He explained during his exit interview: "I am sad, of course I am sad to leave the villa, but I’ve enjoyed most of it. Yes I didn’t find love but we get on really well but I see us being friends on the outside and hanging out."
Earlier on in the episode, Alex – who came under fire for the way he played with Alexandra’s emotions – was forced to come face-to-face with the make-up artist’s mother and sister as they grilled him on his behaviour and how he treated her.
Alexandra’s mum said: "I don’t know what show you thought you were on, Alex."
The brunette beauty – who appeared to go red as her mother vented – said: "Obviously I know she’s being protective mummy by giving him a bit of a grilling."
Although it was clear he felt uncomfortable, Alex could understand why she was angry at him and said to the camera: "I get it, her family are going to be protective over here. I just wanted to explain my side of things and hope they understand."
