Dolly-Rose Campbell: Gemma Winter couldn’t cope with quadruplets

Dolly-Rose Campbell doesn’t think Gemma Winter could cope with quadruplets.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star has weight in on reports her character and on-screen boyfriend Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) are set to become parents to four children on the cobbles, and the actress isn’t convinced her alter ego will be able to deal with the quartet of new arrivals.
Asked on ‘Good Morning Britain’ if Gemma could handle it, she laughed: "Absolutely! Not Nope… I don’t know anything about [the storyline]. I hope not!"
Her comments come after reports last month that the ITV soap is lining up the funny storyline for the two characters, with kebab shop worker set to impregnate the Rovers Return barmaid.
A source recently said: "The show’s new boss, Iain MacLeod, is keen to inject a bit of old-fashioned humour into ‘Coronation Street’ like in the years gone by and this storyline will have viewers in stitches."
While the audience may be chuckling, Gemma will be doing some sums as she tries to work out how the quads can leave her quids in."
The insider added: "Gemma doesn’t miss a trick and instantly thinks of ways she can make some dosh out of her and Chesney’s unexpected news."
Show boss Iain has previously opened up about comedy on the cobbles, and said the show needs to strike a balance in tone.
He said: "’Corrie’ has done really well for 60 years before I got here and hopefully continue to do extremely well for another 60 years after I’ve gone and therefore I am the custodian of that DNA and tone – I don’t intend to do anything radically different.
"If I’m going to do anything it’s to focus on balancing dark stuff with lighter stuff, and with comedy and character which is what people first fell in love with about ‘Corrie.’ "
