Denise Welch to play lesbian in Different For Girls S2

Denise Welch is set to play a homosexual in the second series of ‘Different For Girls’.
The 60-year-old actress – who is married to Lincoln Townley – will portray a late life lesbian, who leaves her husband of 35 years to sample the Sapphic life, in the three-part drama based on the novel of the same name by Jacquie Lawrence.
Creator Jacquie said: "We decided to produce ‘DFG’ as an independent web/TV series as it gave us the freedom to produce a series without compromises or censorship and stay true to the spirit and daring of the original novel."
The series centres around a group of lesbian and bisexual women whose lives revolve around children, marriage, betrayal and divorce with a little bit of drink, drugs, sex and dancing woven in – albeit not in front of their children or their smitten wives.
Jacquie explained: "The show will represent lesbians who live in the suburbs, who are more likely to meet their future partners at the school gates than at a club."
The forthcoming instalment will see Denise – whose character’s name is not yet known – will share a passionate smooch with another female in a steamy scene.
Starring alongside the former ‘Loose Women’ panellist in the show is Guinevere Turner, Rachel Shelley, Victoria Broom, Nimmy March, Charlie Hardwick, Toby Sawyer and Caroline Whitney Smith. It also stars trans actor Jake Graf in a role as a gay dad bringing up children with Brooke, a lesbian character played by Rachel.
‘Different For Girls’ will launch on Lesbian Box Office on July 9.
