Davina McCall’s £100k Drop axed

Davina McCall’s ‘The £100K Drop’ has been axed.
The 52-year-old presenter originally began hosting the Channel 4 game show in 2010 under the title of ‘The Million Pound Drop’, which aired live and allowed viewers to play along at home.
The show was then cancelled in 2015, but returned in May last year as a daytime show titled ‘The £100K Drop’, with a whopping £900,000 slashed from the prize fund.
And now, almost a decade after the show first started, it has been axed for good.
A TV insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "With players handling £1 million in real cash and the trapdoor twist, Million Pound Drop was one of the most exciting shows around when it launched.
"But when ratings fell, Channel 4 bosses took a gamble of their own.
"Unfortunately, lower stakes meant low interest and now they’ve decided to cash out of the Drop for good."
Channel 4 have also confirmed the news in a statement, where they thanked Davina and their production team for their work on the programme.
The statement read: "There are no plans for ‘The £100k Drop’ to return to Channel 4.
"We’d like to thank Davina and all of the team behind the show for the numerous nail-biting moments."
No players managed to beat the £100k drop during its run, and the biggest winners on the original version the show were comedian Jack Whitehall and his dad Michael, who managed to bag £300,000 for charity.
Meanwhile, Davina recently said she suffers from "imposter syndrome", and worries her career could finish at any time.
She said: "Work has been amazing. I’ve got imposter syndrome, where you think someone is going tap you on the shoulder. I think everybody has it. You think, ‘She can sit on her laurels’, but no, never. I always just think I’ve had my time, maybe this is it. Ever since I left Models 1 [agency] to get into telly, I asked them to keep my job open for like five years. It was the longest ever maternity leave. I was like, ‘Can I still come back if it all goes wrong?’ I had that thing of where it all might still go wrong, but it just never did."
