Davina McCall saw hypnotist for new show

Davina McCall had to see a hypnotist before presenting her new show ‘Live in A&E’.
The 50-year-old TV presenter went to see someone specialising in human consciousness ahead of hosting the hospital-based show because she used to faint at the sight of blood after witnessing her grandmother badly injure herself during her younger years.
She said: "I had to go to a hypnotist a week ago because I used to faint at the sight of blood or gore, which I was thinking I should have told them that before taking the job on.
"He said, ‘How did it start?’ I think it happened when my granny severed her toes with the lawnmower and I was there and I saw it."
While filming the documentary, Davina’s first task was, bizarrely, to visit someone who had suffered the same accident as her grandmother, and she managed to avoid fainting throughout.
She added: "The first job I went out on was the man with the severed toes with the lawnmower. What are the chances?
"I was absolutely fine. I didn’t have a wobble. I thought, ‘You just have to pull it together.’ I was completely fine."
The show celebrates 70 years of the NHS, and Davina was particularly grateful for having the health service when her late sister Caroline Baday was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Speaking from Leeds General Infirmary on ‘This Morning’, she added: "I felt really nurtured and she got the best possible care and we get it all for free. We do take it for granted. Yes, there might be a wait sometimes. But really it’s free.
"You will get seen and get through but when there is a trauma happening everyone has to go there."
