Danny Walters landed EastEnders role 6 months after Benidorm exit

Danny Walters landed his role in ‘EastEnders’ six months after he left ‘Benidorm’.
The 24-year-old actor made a name for himself playing Tiger Dyke in the ITV sitcom and decided last year that after three years of playing the wind-up merchant he wanted to leave in order to explore other venture, but he didn’t have to wait too long for the next job to roll in as bosses at the soap approached him half a year later about a new part.
He said: "Being in ‘Benidorm’ really prepared me for a role in ‘EastEnders’. But I can tell you that my respect for soap actors has increased massively – it’s not a skill you’re learnt in drama school. The pace is incredibly fast and you have to learn as you go."
Tiger may have been one of the few recurring characters but the stroppy trickster – who had no respect for his family – wasn’t a fan favourite and Danny hopes his new role in Keanu in ‘EastEnders’ will work in his favour because he has a different personality.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he explained: "Keanu is so much more mature than Tiger. Tiger was just on holiday trying to get some senoritas, so it’s pretty great to now be playing someone who is from a totally different class with completely different characteristics. Six months after leaving ‘Benidorm’, I got the part in ‘EastEnders’. It was a hard decision to leave the show, as it was a beautiful job with some brilliant people. I was sitting out in the sun for months, drinking pina coladas getting fat."
