Dalton Harris’ visa needs renewing

Dalton Harris needs to return to Jamaica because his visa is about to expire.
The 24-year-old singer – who beat off competition from Anthony Russell and Scarlett Lee to win this year’s ‘X Factor’ at the weekend – had immigration documents which allowed him to stay for the duration of the singing contest, so bosses are now trying to negotiate a new deal so he can come back to the UK for the show’s tour, as well as starting work on his debut album.
Dalton told The Sun newspaper: "I need to get a new visa. I will have to leave the UK for a bit as you’re not allowed to just stay for ever.
"Hopefully my visa will be sorted out quickly.
"I had a visa that allowed me to compete in the show, so I’d be surprised if the government didn’t give me one now I have won."
The ‘Power of Love’ singer recently explained how he was inspired to audition for ‘The X Factor’ after winning a talent show in Jamaica helped him get off the streets.
He said: "I needed to go to school and I needed to be able to take care of myself because I was a homeless kid and so entering that competition enabled me to be able to take care of myself, go to school, feed myself and do normal stuff.
"It was kind of a big help and I knew I wanted to be an artist and I knew I had to go to a big platform."
Dalton – who previously won more than £6,000 in cash after winning Digicel Rising Stars in Kingston – has now been given a recording deal with Simon Cowell’s label Syco Music.
