Craig David: I’ve helped connect two different generations

Craig David feels like his comeback has helped to connect two different generations of music fans.
The 35-year-old singer has achieved his first UK number one album since ‘Born To Do It’ in 2000 with his new record ‘Following My Intuition’ – and Craig thinks his fanbase now spans different generations.
He said: "I’m seeing two generations connecting – the people who have been with me since 1999 and the crew who are just discovering me, both connecting on the same music."
Despite the popularity of some of his most-recent tracks, Craig admitted to being overwhelmed by the support of his fans.
He told the BBC: "Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. I don’t know what’s going on right now."
The album success comes shortly after Craig revealed his ambition to headline Glastonbury.
The singer said he is hoping to be given a slot on the Pyramid stage at the world famous festival.
Craig said: "I’d love to headline in the Pyramid Stage, that’s one of my main goals. I played for the first time last year and the place erupted. Doing it on an even bigger stage would be an honour."
The ‘Fill Me In’ hitmaker made his Glastonbury debut last year on the Silver Hayes stage and he relished the experience.
He added: "Literally when I was on stage I looked out, from where I was the crowd didn’t end for what looked like a mile from where I was. I was just like, ‘This is Glastonbury!’
"I had this applause at the end, people clapping but it was getting louder and louder. I was like, ‘What is happening here?’
"I have so much love for Glastonbury."
