Courtney Love reveals she’s unlikely fan of East 17

Courtney Love is an unlikely fan of East 17.

The Hole rocker, 60, who had daughter Frances Bean, 32, with her late ex-husband Kurt Cobain, is renowned for her love of grunge, but reveals on the upcoming new series of music quiz show ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ she loved the boyband, most famous for their Christmas hit ‘Stay Another Day’.

She says in an episode of the long-running comedy panel series that will air on Wednesday (16.10.24) night while discussing rock with the group’s frontman Terry Coldwell, 50, she listens to their smash song every year.

Presenter Joel Dommett, 39, who also guests on the new show, said after Terry took to the stage: “To be fair, a great funeral song would be East 17’s ‘Stay Another Day’.”

Courtney chipped in: “On my Christmas playlist every year.”

Terry replied to the 1990s rocker: “I saw you on YouTube, saying it was one of your favourite songs!”

Courtney responded: “I know someone – Bret – he’s friends with my actor friend. The guy from East 17 that manages bands… what’s his name?”

Along with Terry, East 17 was made up of Brian Harvey, 50, Tony Mortimer, 53, and John Hendy, also 53, and as well as ‘Stay Another Day’ had hits with tunes including ‘Steam’ and ‘Deep’.

Courtney also left her fellow guests baffled with a bizarre story about Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

She said about the 47-year-old singer and his band: “I went to see Coldplay at the National History Museum, and I love many things about Chris Martin.

“A – he’s a feminist in the best way. And B – I had to fake my way through a three-hour conversation on Muse. I faked it really good. That’s not the point.”

The new ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ series is on Sky Max and NOW.
