Coronation Street’s Amy Barlow to get pregnant

‘Coronation Street’ teenager Amy Barlow will fall pregnant in a new dramatic 2019 storyline.
The 14-year-old schoolgirl – who is played by 16-year-old actress Elle Mulvaney – will see her world turned upside down when she discovers she is expecting a baby and when her parents Steve and Tracey McDonald, played by Simon Gregson and Kate Ford, discover her pregnancy kit they will hit the roof, with Tracy threatening to "kill" the boy responsible.
Amy will turn to her grandmother Liz MacDonald (Beverley Callard) for help as she is faced with the decision of keeping the baby or having a termination.
A source told The Sun’s TV Bizarre column: "Amy is seen sobbing her heart out, asking her granny Liz to help. Steve finds a pregnancy kit and tells Tracy about it and they both lose their rag. Tracy says she wants to kill the baby’s father. They demand an abortion and Amy agrees but changes her mind at the 11th hour."
New show boss Iain MacLeod recently confirmed that Amy would be the focus of a major plotline story in the New Year.
He said: "Into the New Year, we’ve got a massive story that plays to some of our older cast, but equally we’ve got huge new chapters for characters like Daniel and Sinead, who are obviously towards the younger end of the spectrum. We’ve got a big story for Amy Barlow coming up. But that’s all because the writers have brought amazing stories for those characters. I haven’t briefed them and said I want a big story for them, as I like it to be quite organic.
"When I came back onto the show, it was a bit like going into the attic of your house and finding a box of toys that you’d forgotten you had. My preferences are quite broad. I love all of the historical characters, but we’ve got a very talented younger cast as well … I’m pleased to say that since arriving, the story conferences we’ve had are brimming with really good ideas for a whole range of characters and age ranges."
The plot is similar to the gripping storyline which was shown on screens back in 2000 when 13-year-old Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) got pregnant and decided to keep her baby Bethany, who is now a teenager in Weatherfield and is played by Lucy Fallon.
