Conor Maynard’s mean friends

Conor Maynard doesn’t get upset about Twitter trolls – because his friends say worse things to him.

The ‘Can’t Say No’ hitmaker insists he just brushes off nasty comments he receives on social media because he is always the butt of his pals’ jokes.

He said: "People ask me when you get hate on Twitter how do you not get upset? And I say, ‘Because my friends are worse.’

"Like if there’s a bad picture of me on the internet, I’ve got a group chat with all my friends and one of them will just send it in."

While his pals make unkind comment to him, the 22-year-old pop star insists they keep him grounded.

He told BANG Showbiz: "As long as you keep people around who tell you when your ego gets a bit big you’re fine."

And Conor will be joined by his pals when he takes to the stage at Thorpe Park’s Island Beats next month, but he insists they don’t care" about his gig and are only excited about being at the theme park.

He said: "I think rather than my friends looking forward to me performing, they’re looking towards going on the rides. I don’t think they really care about me performing."

Conor will be playing at Thorpe Park’s Island Beats on 21 August. Island Beats runs from 11 July – 29 August and for more information and to book tickets go to www.thorpepark.com
