Carol Vorderman to resume solo flight plans in 2020

Carol Vorderman will attempt to fly solo around the world within the next three years.
The former ‘Countdown’ co-presenter put back her plans to jet around the globe after her mother Jean was diagnosed with incurable cancer last year, but her adventure is "back on", and she is hoping to embark on the monster journey in 2020 or 2021.
The 57-year-old star wrote on Twitter: "Five years ago I did my first solo flight live on @thismorning @ITV ….. awww…..and after having to postpone my round the world solo flight last year due to Mum’s terminal diagnosis. I’m pleased to say it’s back on and will either be 2020/2021.. there’s a lot of planning!!! x (sic)"
Carol’s latest comments come after she revealed in April 2017 that she was hoping to attempt the flight again within three years.
She said at the time: "I’m just starting to re-engage. I’m taking things gently, looking after the kids and my family. That’s really the focus at the moment.
"The flight could take place in two or three years. I’ll probably start (flying) again in July."
Following Jean’s death in June 2017, Carol recently admitted she felt a "tsunami of grief" as the anniversary of her mother’s passing drew closer.
She said: "It hit me like a wave. I couldn’t stop crying. It was like tsunami of grief, and then it just stopped."
Carol – who cared for her mum everyday up until her death – explained how she couldn’t figure out why she "didn’t cry" at the time of Jean’s passing.
She added: "I just didn’t cry. I didn’t really think about her. It can’t just be me who goes through it.
"I loved her. We could not have a closer bond. I adored the ground she walked on. So why is it that it just hasn’t come? I don’t understand it."
