Carol Vorderman: I’m tired of people talking about my bum

Carol Vorderman is tired of people talking about her famous bum instead of her accomplishments.
The former ‘Countdown’ mathematician – who co-hosted the gameshow for 26 years – is best known for her quick sums but gets "hundreds" of comments on her hourglass figure despite attending a top-ranked university.
She told Platinum magazine: "One of the sad things is that people think I am only ever talking about the way I look, I just choose to pay no attention to it.
"I was a free school meals kid. I got to Cambridge from a comprehensive. That just didn’t happen in the 70s.
"Now I do a lot of work with kids from a similar background to me. I have my online maths school, I sell I-don’t-know-how-many education books a year. But that never gets talked about. Instead it’s, `How big is her bottom?’ "
The 59-year-old star has gone on to write various school books on mathematics and has recently offered free lessons to children whilst schools are closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Despite her brains, she still gets asked a lot about her diet and fitness regime and has recently blamed the Kardashians for the reason why people care about looks so much these days.
She previously said: "One of the sad things is that people think I am only ever talking about the way I look, when really it’s just what’s printed… It’s the Kardashians who’ve changed that. There’s no other content now…
"Social media and all of that, I can’t fight that battle now, so I just choose to pay no attention to it."
However, Carol looks back at her achievements with pride after combating sexism and ageism on television as there were only a handful of women on TV screens when she first started out.
She explained: "When I started in TV there was just me, Angela Rippon, Esther Rantzen, Anna Ford and the ‘dolly birds’ as they were called. There weren’t presenter jobs for women. We had to fight for all that.
"My generation have had to fight the fight the entire time and things changed because we forced it on them. They put you in a category just because you were born in a certain year, but hopefully this is the last battle we’ll have to fight."
