Candice Brown shut down Eiffel Tower as a teenager

Candice Brown "shut down" the Eiffel Tower when she was a teenager.
The 32-year-old chef caused a security nightmare at the Paris landmark during a school trip when she accidentally jammed a lift with her bag.
She recalled: "I shut down the Eiffel Tower when I was 15 on a school trip.
"I got my bag stuck in the lift door, all the lights went off, and they started escorting people downstairs. Then, lots of angry French men walked up all those stairs to come and pull my bag out of the door.
"My teacher told my mum I was the only person that could happen to."
The ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner also confessed to being so hopeless on the violin, her music teacher had to suggest she stop having lessons and try something else.
She admitted: "I was so bad at the violin that my teacher asked me to stop after three years.
"He just said, ‘I think we need to draw a line under this, Candice."
Candice drew attention to herself at school when she was a little older with a disastrous home hair dye job.
She recalled: "When I was 16, I tried to put some darker bits in my own hair that went bright blue. My friend’s mum had to cut them out."
These days, the former P.E. teacher has carved out a successful baking career following her ‘Bake Off’ win, but it frustrates her when people think she is "smug" or "bitchy".
Asked who owes her an apology, she told Grazia magazine: "Anybody who has ever thought I’m anything other than nice. I worked hard as a teacher to make sure everyone was kind to each other. It gets to me when anyone thinks I’m bitchy…
"People on social media have called me smug and I really don’t like it. I battle with low confidence and smug is something that’s never been a part of me, I’m grateful for everything that comes my way and genuinely amazed at what I’m doing at the moment."
