Candice Brown shocks punters at her pub by serving up puds

‘Great British Bake Off’ winner Candice Brown has "shocked" punters delivering their puddings at her pub.
The 2006 winner of the show is the landlady of The Green Man in Eversholt in Bedfordshire and also lives above the boozer, and she is not afraid of the "hard work" that comes with running a public house, and sometimes locals are surprised when they see her waiting on them.
Candice told the latest issue of HELLO! magazine: "I don’t shy away from hard work, and I never wanted to just lend my name to this and then disappear.
"Sometimes people do recognise me and look shocked when I deliver their puddings personally.
"I wouldn’t want anybody to do something I wasn’t prepared to do myself."
The former PE teacher lives above the pub with husband Liam Macaulay and couldn’t be happier.
She said: "This is completely natural for me, to live above a pub, more so than to live in a house.
"I love it. It’s a beautiful little flat and we’ve made it cosy and our own."
And although most of her time is taken up serving customers and pulling pints, Candice still makes time to bake.
She said: "It was my happy place, and it still is my happy place.
"Baking is the one thing I feel natural and good at, and can get completely absorbed in."
Candice grew up in the pub trade as her parents ran boozers in north London and she insists if any punters have too much to drink she’ll tell them to "get outta my pub" just like legendary ‘EastEnders’ Queen Vic landlady Peggy Mitchell – who was played by Dame Barbara Windsor.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz, she previously said: "I’ve just bought a pub, I want to do the best Sunday lunches, and comforting, warming and hearty food. I’m an ambassador for Love British Food, so I work with the farmers to promote that seasonal and local produce is when food is at its best.
"It’s called The Green Man in Eversholt, I’m hoping it will be open in mid-February, it’s so exciting. I was brought up in pubs with my brother and I want this to be a real family affair.
"I would love to be able to go, ‘Get out of my pub!’ I’m dying to do that, but it won’t be that sort of pub, I think."
Candice and husband are working with her brother Ben and his girlfriend Sophie to make the pub a success and she said she was thrilled to be getting the chance to work with her family.
She added: "It’s been a real family affair. A real baptism of fire but it’s going to be amazing. I got it with my brother Ben, so his girlfriend Sophie is involved too."
