Candice Brown in the skate off as Dancing On Ice returns

Candice Brown found herself in the skate off as ‘Dancing On Ice’ returned to television screens.
The ice skating show has been off air for four years but made a stellar return to ITV on Sunday night (07.01.18) with performances from six of the 12 celebrities.
Unfortunately for ‘Great British Bake Off’ winner Candice and her skating partner Matt Evers, she found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard with just 13 points out of a possible 40.
Asked what she’ll be working on this week ahead of the skate off next Sunday, Candice told hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: "Just everything the judges said, the extensions, my hands and trying to relax with it – everything we work on every day. I was nervous, it was the first time I’ve done anything like that. This week, I’m going to do it."
Antony Cotton was the first onto the ice with a tropical-themed dance and was "thrilled" with his 15.5 points.
He shared: "I’m thrilled with that! I didn’t die and I didn’t kill Brandee! It’s been the most incredible journey! The first person I ever told about this show was Gaz, and he died last year, and his wife is here. So that one was for you, Gaz."
And ‘X Factor’ star Jake Quickenden wowed the judges, scoring 20.5 points. Ashley Banjo described his performance as "unexpected" and said he "looked at home on the ice".
However, the biggest surprise of the night was ‘Love Island’s Kem Cetinay, who joint topped the leaderboard alongside Jake with his energetic skate to ‘Shut Up and Dance’.
Jayne Torvill told them she "was really impressed" and Christopher Dean joked about the couple having "Kem-istry".
He added, "You just go and take it on. That was just a little bit, leave it," referencing Kem’s song with his fellow ‘Love Island’ star Chris Hughes.
Perri Shakes-Drayton also impressed with 20 points out of a possible 40 and even Jason Gardiner had praise for Perri and Hamish Gaman.
He told them: "You had such intensity. I love this partnership. Hamish, hats off to you, the best routine so far. You are a natural."
Olympic ice skating champions Torvill and Dean returned to the show, but in a new role this time, as judges, alongside Diversity star Ashley Banjo and returning judge Jason Gardiner.
‘Dancing On Ice’ continues next Sunday (14.01.18).
