Britney Spears in talks for Super Bowl halftime show

Britney Spears has reportedly held "secret discussions" about performing the Super Bowl LII halftime show in 2018 – 14 years after she did it for the first time.
The ‘Slumber Party’ singer has opened talks with television and advertising executives about providing the entertainment during the break of the NFL showpiece final which will take place at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 4.
She’s back on the radar for the gig thanks to her acclaimed Las Vegas residency, ‘Britney: Piece of Me’, at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas which began in December 2013 and will come to an end at the close of 2017.
A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Britney has made it clear to her team that it is a dream to perform at a Super Bowl. She has the hits package and appeal to be a headliner."
In 2001, Britney was part of a halftime bill curated by MTV which featured her team up with Aerosmith to perform the group’s classic hit ‘Walk This Way’, whilst *NSYNC, Mary J. Blige and Nelly also performed.
According to the insider, the 35-year-old pop superstar could once again team up with other artists for the 12-minute slot.
Last summer, Britney was quizzed as to whether she’d be interested in taking on the challenge of the Super Bowl once again, to which she replied: "Yes, I would probably do that."
Lady Gaga was given the halftime honour in 2017 performing to a TV audience of 150 million, whilst Coldplay were chosen in 2016 and invited special guests Bruno Mars and Beyoncé to join them on stage.
