Britain’s Got Talent Paddy Jones didn’t notice Simon Cowell’s red buzzer

‘Britain’s Got Talent’s dancing grandma Paddy Jones didn’t notice Simon Cowell had pressed his red buzzer.

The show boss initially rejected the 79-year-old dancer and her partner Nico on the opening show at the weekend (12.04.14), but he was left stunned when the energetic duo launched into a stunning Salsa routine.

However, Paddy claims she didn’t let the negative buzz affect her routine because she wasn’t actually aware it had been pressed at all.

Speaking on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ today (14.04.14), she said: "I didn’t see very much because Nico was moving me around … it wasn’t like I was stood there and could see the audience and get nervous – I was just going around like a whirling dervish!"

However, the flexible grandmother was automatically put through to the next round of the show after judge Amanda Holden pressed the golden buzzer.

Asked what it was like receiving the first ever golden buzzer, she replied: "It was really special. To be the first act to get it was really really super."

Meanwhile, Paddy must have impressed Simon, 54, as he took to Twitter yesterday (13.04.14) to defend her after it emerged she’d already won a Spanish talent show.

He wrote: "Don’t knock Paddy for performing on a Spanish talent show. She is British and wants the chance to perform in front of our royal family.

"She is 80 years old. Let her have that chance. You the viewers will decide (sic)".
