Boy George takes swipe at The Voice UK

Boy George has taken a swipe at ‘The Voice UK’.
The Culture Club frontman was dropped from the singing competition’s judging panel, which he sat on for one series, earlier this year after ITV pinched it in a mega-money deal from the BBC and, although he’s now managed to secure a deal with the Australian version of the show, it’s thought he still feels bitter about being axed from his home country’s edition as he seemed to poke fun at the UK’s viewers lack of "banter."
Speaking in a statement after it was announced he was joining the Australian series, he said: "I am super excited to be doing ‘The Voice’ in Australia because I know they can take a bit of banter and I won’t be holding back. The UK season was a warm-up and I am ready to sprinkle some pop-tastic glitter dust all over the show."
The 55-year-old musician will join Delta Goodrem, Seal and a third judge – who is yet to be chosen and announced – on ‘The Voice Australia’ next year and is thrilled he’s finally managed to free up his jam-packed diary so that he could accept the impressive deal.
He explained: "I’ve been talking about doing this show for a few years. They’ve approached me a number of times, but it just wasn’t the right time. But having now done it in the UK I feel ready to go now because I kind of understand now what the show is."
And Boy George – whose real name is George O’Dowd – certainly has plenty of experience when it comes to dishing out singing advice to hopefuls as he previously sat as a guest mentor on the US’ popular singing show ‘American Idol’ in 2015.
