Bill Hader to voice Alpha 5 in Power Rangers movie

Bill Hader is to voice Alpha 5 in the new ‘Power Rangers’ movie.
Lionsgate and Saban have confirmed the 38-year-old actor – who has voiced characters for movies including Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’ – will portray the robot in the reboot of the Mighty Morphin Powers Rangers TV show, which first hit screens in 1993 and went on for 20 years.
A post on the official ‘Power Rangers’ movie twitter account, revealed: "Aye-yi-yi! Welcome #BillHader as #Alpha5 to the #PowerRangersMovie – Coming in 2017. (sic)"
The ‘Sausage Party’ voice actor joins an A-List cast including Elizabeth Banks and Bryan Cranston who play Rita Repulsa and Zordon, respectively, in the eagerly-anticipated film.
It comes after Lionsgate revealed it could make up to "six or seven" more ‘Power Rangers’ movies.
The characters set to hit the big screen next March but before the blockbuster is unleashed its filmmakers are already thinking about making further sequels.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said: "We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie. We could see doing five or six or seven."
The ‘Power Rangers’ movie re-imagines the origins of the action heroes – a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.
Feltheimer said there had been a positive reaction to the costume reveal – with characters empowering suits of translucent armour that crystallises around the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers’ bodies – which indicated audience interest.
Lionsgate has teamed up with Dean Israelite (‘Project Almanac’) to direct the film and has cast five young actors to star – American singer/actress Becky G as the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin (‘Monster Hunt’) as the Black Ranger, Naomi Scott (‘Terra Nova’) as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery (‘Bertrand the Terrible’) as the Red Ranger and RJ Cyler (‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’) as the Blue Ranger.
