Biffy Clyro working on Scottish World Cup anthem

Biffy Clyro are working on a World Cup anthem for Scotland.

The Scottish rock band are so thrilled about their country making it into the World Cup in 2026 that they are already working on a “Band Aid style single” for the finals.

Simon Neil told NME: “The party’s starting because the Tartan is marching. We’re gonna do a Band Aid style single for Scotland’s World Cup after qualifying. We’ve got the chorus. Here we go.”

Ben Johnston added: “We’re gonna get Capaldi, we’re gonna get Nutini, Spiteri.”

And Simon said: “All the Italians! Finsbury Park [gig] is exciting, but Scotland in the World Cup is even more exciting.”

Meanwhile, the band have postponed their US tour after “some f****** genius” made an error with their visa applications.

The group were due to kick off a string of intimate dates in the United States on December 2 in Los Angeles, but with days to go, frontman Simon admitted someone made a major mistake while applying for the documentation.

In an Instagram video, he told fans: “Some f****** genius put the wrong start date into our work visa, so when we received our visas in the last couple of days, it doesn’t begin until after our tour is meant to finish.”

The Many of Horror hitmaker – who is one third of the band alongside twin brothers James and Ben Johnston, while they are joined by Mike Vennart and Richard Ingram on tour – insisted they have been trying anything they can to get the issue fixed.

He added: “We’ve been in touch with four or five immigration lawyers, we’ve been in touch with Congress.

“There’s f*** all any of them can do to help.”
