Aston Merrygold thought he would win Strictly Come Dancing

Aston Merrygold only agreed to do ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ because he thought he would win.
The former JLS star has admitted he only signed up to the BBC One ballroom and latin show because he was convinced he’d make it all the way in the competition.
Asked if he thought he would make the final, he said: "Yeah of course … otherwise I wouldn’t have entered the show."
And despite crashing out of the competition a few weeks ago, Aston admits he is still "not over it".
He told new! magazine: "I’m not over it [leaving] – I was gutted because I was having a great time. But I think I’ve been in this industry a long time, so you have to look at it as, ‘What’s next?’ You just have to take it on the chin."
Meanwhile, Aston – whose partner Sarah Richards is expecting the couple’s first child – previously revealed he is rooting for Alexandra Burke to win ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "For me I would always go down to, like I’ve known her for years, I think she’s an incredible artist anyway, Alexandra is, unbelievable at what she does, and the fact that she’s taken to this like a fish in water.
"It’s brilliant so, so yeah I’m hoping she goes all the way. You get a good score one week, you get a bad score the next week and whatever else. It’s a bit like depending what dance is thrown at you, you see what fits and she’s been able to mold into all of them so far, yeah I think honestly she’s just been great to watch dance so, so like I said."
