Antony Cotton to return to Dancing on Ice despite fractured ribs

Antony Cotton will return to ‘Dancing on Ice’ this weekend despite fracturing his ribs.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor was left struggling to breathe when his skating partner Brandee Malto fell on top of him during training ahead of the live show, despite ITV telling him he needs to rest up.
But despite Brandee being "so scared" she had killed him, Antony will be back on the ice, with the help of painkillers.
Appearing on ‘This Morning’ on Friday (02.02.18), Antony said: "First of all, it’s my choice and I want to carry on. It’s front and back [ribs].
"It was nobody’s fault, there were two of us in this tango. We fell backwards and Brandee fell on op and crushed me.
"In all my career I’ve never phoned in sick once, not ever."
The 42-year-old star recalled he spent 10 minutes on the rink before he was rushed to hospital, and because no one was there he was "snatching breaths" so people knew he was still conscious.
He said: "It happened very quickly. I knew that we were going down, the only thing I thought was that I didn’t want to bang my head because we were going to go down with some force.
"So I kind of cradled round Brandee so that my head was up, which meant I went bang on my back, and Brandee landed on top of my. My ribs crushed right at the back and at the front.
"I knew it was bad, but the worst part was I couldn’t breathe, I physically couldn’t breathe and so, because there was nobody else around, as I was snatching breaths I was doing it audibly because I thought, if I stop breathing they’ll notice I’m not making sound anymore."
Brandee added: "I was so scared. I really thought I’d killed him because he couldn’t breathe.
"He was laying on the ice telling me to get help. I was happy that he took a breath but I didn’t want to leave him."
