Ant and Dec partner with The Prince’s Trust for new media initiative

Ant and Dec partner with The Prince’s Trust to help disadvantaged young people make it in the media industry.

The presenting duo – Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – have joined up with Prince Charles’ youth charity to launch the initiative Ant & Dec’s Making it in Media which will help underprivileged youngsters develop the skills to be successful in the media industry and find jobs and training opportunities.

The free two-week course is for 16-25 years old’s who aren’t in work, education or training. It will offer the youngsters hands-on training and an insight into behind-the-scenes roles within the industry as well as a chance to work on a project for a TV production. They’ll also be given tips on CV writing and interview techniques.

The course will take place in London in July. The plan is to take it to Manchester and then Ant and Dec’s home city of Newcastle. Grants of up to £250 will also the available to help attendees cover costs such as child care and travel.

Speaking in a video message, Charles, 72, said: “Being able to raise young people’s aspirations is incredibly important, arguably more so now than ever, and that is exactly what my Trust is doing by finding young people opportunities in the media industry today. I can think of no better duo to help drive this activity than Ant and Dec, who have enjoyed an illustrious career in the media for over 30 years.”

While Dec, 45, speaking from the set of ITV show ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’, which he co-hosts with Ant, said: “Starting out in the world of work can be challenging at the best of times, but right now it is harder than ever for young people. We hope this course offers some inspiration, practical skills and experience that young people can take with them into the workplace.”
