Another Little Mix star nearly quit before Jesy Nelson, singer claims

A Little Mix band member nearly quit before Jesy Nelson left the group.

That’s according to the 34-year-old singer, who has opened up for the first time about one of her other former bandmates – Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall – previously wanting to depart the Black Magic hitmakers at the beginning of 2020.

Jesy hasn’t named the band member, but says in her new Prime Video documentary Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix: “I thought everyone was in a really good place, but I was wrong.

“We got called in for a meeting and I just had this gut feeling that it wasn’t going to be good.

“One of the girls had decided they didn’t want to be in the band any more. I remember feeling my whole world had fallen apart.

“It was a really sad day – me and Jade really cried. I was devastated.”

When asked to name the Little Mix star in question, she said: “I don’t think that’s for me to say because they still haven’t said.

“It’s been really hard to not speak out about this.

“I thought we’d be together forever. It was never my decision to leave first.”

Following the meeting, it was decided Little Mix would end, but Jesy admits things became “messy” when the band’s conclusion was pushed back by two years, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

She then had a “very quick realisation” that she “wasn’t happy”, admitting she had “mentally checked out” of the girl group.

Jesy says in the documentary: “That was the moment I thought, I can’t do this anymore.

“I just remember thinking, I cannot last another two years.

“I felt like it [the relationship with the girls] had shifted.

“There would be days I would cry and be a miserable b***h.

“All those little things build up and build up and they do get to a boiling point.”

Jesy later quit the group in November 2020.

Elsewhere in the documentary, the star admits feeling “really hurt” when her lawyer told her bandmates she was to quit the band, before she had chance to tell them herself.

She added: “I think they felt really hurt about that and it should never have played out like that.

“I didn’t get my opportunity to explain why I couldn’t do this anymore. I feel mad that that was taken away from me.”
