Amber Davies: Kem was ‘right person at wrong time’

Amber Davies thinks Kem Cetinay was "the right person" for her – but "at the completely wrong time".
The 21-year-old beauty and the ‘Dancing on Ice’ star won ITV2 reality show ‘Love Island’ last year, but the high-profile duo subsequently split in late 2017, and Amber insists they’ve since maintained a healthy friendship.
Amber said: "I struggled a little bit when we first broke up and Kem knows that. He was so brilliant with me. I’d message him and he’d talk me through it. He has been brilliant with me."
The brunette beauty blames their split on the fact that she and Kem found themselves at "two different stages" in their lives when they entered into their relationship.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, Amber explained: "He obviously still lived with his parents. I was his first girlfriend, where I’d been in numerous relationships. I moved to London at 16 and was independent. It wasn’t our fault that we didn’t work.
"For me, I always say, it was the right person but just at the completely wrong time."
The duo decided to end their romance following 132 days of dating at the end of last year, and Kem has claimed he decided to split from Amber because their "spark was going".
He said: "It was me who called it a day.
"I couldn’t carry on going on the way we were. We were arguing over silly things and it just didn’t feel right."
Amber was criticised for romping with Kem on national TV, and has since set herself new sex rules.
She recently said: "Don’t have sex on the first date, if you don’t know the person, don’t have sex with the person. It’s all about self-respect.
"If there’s alcohol involved ask yourself, are you going to regret it in the morning because when you’re under the influence of alcohol you become a lot more vulnerable, male and female.
"Don’t think sex is to impress – I think females and males would be a lot more impressed if you don’t put out on the first date.
"We are absolutely binning the saying ‘no strings attached’ or ‘friends with benefits’, us females we all know we get emotionally attached after sex, so if you don’t want to get hurt, don’t do it.
"You’re not crazy, or needy to demand self-respect, don’t follow the crowd, only because sex has become so casual nowadays, doesn’t mean you have to do it, so stand up for yourself."
