Alan Carr wants to host the Eurovision Song Contest

Alan Carr wants to host the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The 40-year-old comedian is desperate to take over from current host Graham Norton – who has fronted it since 2009 – next year as he believes he would be able to do the commentating job just as good and he’d have great fun.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "I really want to emulate Graham Norton in terms of mainstream appeal. He can talk to people like Joan Collins about vaginas and then he can go and do ‘Eurovision’. I could do that. It would be so much fun."
His new dream to commentate the show, which sees countries in Europe battle against one another in a singing competition, comes just months after his famous chat show ‘Alan Carr: Chatty Man’ was axed from Channel 4 after it was struggling to pull in as many viewers as its rival chat show ‘The Graham Norton Show’.
After learning that his programme was being given the boot, Alan admitted he’d love to "try something different" and doesn’t just want to be known for doing a chat show.
He said: "I don’t want, when this ends next year is all I’ve done is a chat show. I want to try new things, so I want to try something a bit different.
"Booking three guests on a Wednesday, you’ve got to have three guests on the sofa and it’s just getting harder and harder."
However, although some fans were sad to hear that ‘Chatty Man’ had been taken off air, the host – who is known for his high-pitched voice – reassured viewers recently that he’d come back to the screens with spin-off show ‘Alan Carr: Happy Hour’.
Alan is hoping the new format will attract a younger audience and has ditched the in-depth interviews and alcohol shots with his celebrity guests for games with an interactive studio audience.
It’s first episode was aired on Friday (02.12.16) and featured guests Rebel Wilson, Honey G and James Arthur.
