Adele dedicates song to Amy Winehouse on late star’s birthday

Adele dedicated ‘Make You Feel My Love’ to her idol Amy Winehouse as she performed in Boston on Wednesday night (14.09.16) on what would have been the late star’s 33rd birthday.
The 28-year-old singer was performing at the TD Garden arena in the US city and took a moment to remember the jazz and soul musician who tragically died in July 2011 when she was just 27.
Adele described Amy as a "genius" and the artist who inspired her to write her own songs before performing an emotional rendition of the ballad.
Speaking to fans, the ‘Hello’ hitmaker said: "I feel like I owe so much of my career to her. Her first album ‘Frank’, that album really changed my life. I used to think she’s the coolest motherf***er.
"Because of her I write my own songs, if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be happening. I’m also completely happy with all of the music that she left behind because it’s genius, but every day I wish I could hear a new song from her. So I tonight I want to dedicate this song to Amy Winehouse. This is ‘Make You Feel My Love’. We love you, we always will."
Earlier in the day, Adele has taken to her Twitter account to remember the ‘Rehab’ singer posting a photo of Amy smiling for the camera along with the caption "Happy Birthday Amy X".
The ‘Rolling in the Deep’ songwriter has always lavished praise on Amy’s music and also been honest that her death from accidental alcohol poisoning and well-documented drug problems have served to be a cautionary tale for her to avoid the pitfalls of fame.
Adele – who has three-year-old son Angelo with her partner Simon Konecki – said: "Watching Amy deteriorate is one of the reasons I’m a bit frightened. Seeing that I see that fame (can be) really toxic, and I think it’s really easy to be dragged into it."
The British chart-topper is to play a second show at the TD Garden arena in Boston on Thursday evening (15.09.16).
