Abbey Clancy believes motherhood has made her a ‘strict’ judge

Abbey Clancy believes motherhood has made her a "strict" judge on ‘Britain’s Next Top Model’.
The 31-year-old model has returned to judge the new series of the reality show, alongside Paul Sculfor, Hilary Alexander and Nicky Johnston, and the blonde beauty believes since having daughters Sophia, five, and 21-month-old Liberty with her husband Peter Crouch, she has become a harsher critic.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz about the upcoming show, the fashion muse said: "I think I’m stricter from being a mum and I don’t take any messing from my two [children] – especially Sophia, she can be a bit, she knows how to work us and she just gets away with anything with her dad.
"So I’m trying to be quite strict. For me I just wanted the models to take it seriously and it’s not like everyone is a model now with the likes of Instagram and everything."
And Abbey is desperate to teach the contestants that modelling is "hard work" and wants the competitors to absorb everything everyone tells them during their experience.
She continued: "I wanted them to know it’s not a walk in the park. It’s hard work, it takes dedication you’ve got to be healthy, on it, and I just wanted them to listen because we have so many amazing photographers and designers that the girls are working with. I wanted them just to take as much in as possible to set them off because it’s a great platform and a head start into the industry."
During the show the budding models will undergo a dramatic transformation, which Abbey thinks is the hardest part of the series because she has a "meltdown" when she has a haircut.
She explained: "Makeover day is always a drama for the day, trying to convince these girls that they would look better with a cropped hair cut when they’ve got hair right down to their bum is hard but a lot of time and energy and we’ve got a big team on it so it’s not just for the drama side of it.
"Makeover day is completely hard for me because I have a meltdown if it’s gets a millimetre cut off my hair or get my hair coloured I hate it. But you just have to try and convince them that you’re not taking this decision lightly and a lot of thought from the professionals to model agents, the hair dressers to photographers, they’ve all had an input on what they’d like the look to be and I think this year it was all perfect."
‘Britain’s Next Top Model’ will air on Thursday (16.03.17) at 9pm on Lifetime.
