Simon Cowell: People use X Factor for fame

Simon Cowell has blasted ‘X Factor’ contestants who use the show for fame.

The music mogul has spoken out against people who appear on the show only to go on to compete in other reality series such as ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ or ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’

He said: "There are people who come on this show who just want fame.

"They’ll do anything afterwards because that’s why they’ve entered ‘The X Factor’."

Rylan Clark appeared on the ITV talent show in 2012 after competing in Katie Price’s model search programme ‘Signed By Katie Price’ and went on to win ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ before becoming a reporter for ‘This Morning’, while Jake Quickenden is currently in the ‘I’m A Celeb’ jungle after being voted off ‘The X Factor’ in October.

However, Simon insists his final two acts in the competition – Ben Haenow and Fleur East – are dedicated to pursuing a career in the music industry and thinks they can make it to the final.

The 55-year-old mentor also rubbished reports he’s planning to quit the show and promised to return to the judging panel next year.

According to the Daily Star newspaper, he said: "I’m not going anywhere.

"I’ve loved doing the show this year.

"I still think we’re not looking everywhere for talent so I’m going to increase how we reach out next year, maybe take mobile units around the country."
