Jake Quickenden was given the boot from ‘The X Factor’ tonight (26.10.14).
The 26-year-old hunk was axed from the ITV singing competition after he failed to impress judges with his performance of Daniel Merriweather’s ‘Red’ in the tough sing-off against four-piece Only the Young.
Speaking after the result, Jake said: "You know what, I’ve met some absolutely amazing people and I’m going to keep going and try to find out the artist I wanna be.
"I feel like I’ve got a lot more to give and you never know what’s round the corner and I just want to say thank you to the judges and, you know what, it’s been an incredible journey. I’m actually gutted that I’m leaving a house full of my friends."
Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini all agreed the band, who gave a rendition of Abba’s ‘The Winner Takes it All,’ has the most potential in the competition.
However, Jake’s mentor Mel B, who opted to save him, was reduced to tears as she praised the model for being a "pleasure to work with."
She said: "He’s just an amazing guy. He’s been a pleasure to work with and he feels like family to me. He’s been through so much and you should see what this guy does on a daily basis to practice."
Meanwhile, the results show also featured live performances from One Republic and Ed Sheeran.
