Britain’s Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla paid a visit to Rutland yesterday (28.07.14).
The Duchess of Cornwall, 67, marked her first official visit to the landlocked county by presenting a commemorative horseshoe to the town of Oakham.
The blonde beauty was joined by her husband Charles, whom she married in 2005, as fans lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the royal couple upon their arrival.
The pair met business owners, residents and volunteers at St John and St Anne Almshouse – a housing complex for retired people – before going on to visit Oakham Castle where they were welcomed by military personnel from Kendrew and St Georges Barracks, as well as scouts and girl guide groups.
The duo ended their day in Rutland by visiting Rutland Water, where they chatted to Wildlife Trust volunteers and were given a tour of the nature reserve.
The Prince, 65, was also shown the wetland lagoons, which were created to protect the wildlife, during the tour, while the duchess was taken to the education centre to meet children at the pond-dipping area.
