Bowling For Soup frontman says son is ‘fine’ after being dropped during first crowd surf

Bowling For Soup frontman Jaret Reddick has reassured fans his teenage son is “fine” after being accidentally dropped during his first-ever crowd surf.

The Girl All the Bad Guys Want rocker’s 13-year-old boy got to experience riding the wave of fans at his dad’s recent concert at Cardiff Castle – until “gravity” took over.

Fortunately, Everett was unharmed and his father thanked the fans who helped get him back on his feet.

Updating his fans on Instagram, Jaret wrote: “His FIRST crowd surf was in a freakin CASTLE!!!

What a night! Even if they dropped my child on his head!

be safe out there, kids! Even with everybody paying attention, and honestly trying not to drop my child, sometimes GRAVITY just takes over! He’s just fine and I really appreciate everybody looking after him when he was on the bottom of the pile!”

In a video message, he shared how his son asked specifically to do his first crowd surf at the Welsh castle.

Jaret, 54, said Everett went down headfirst and smacked into a plastic cable cover running between the stage and the sound desk.

After the tumble, Everett was taken to the venue’s medical tent for a check‑up, but his dad later confirmed he was “fine,” noting that the youngster had dealt with a concussion before.

He wasn’t shaken by it at all – in fact, he’s already announced he plans to crowd surf again.

Meanwhile, Jaret recently boasted that the band’s next album is their best yet.

He revealed the whole thing started last summer when SSL – the console company – asked them to record a single track, Holding On To That Hate, to test new gear.

He told ContactMusic.com: “We went into the studio just to do one song.

“But we loved it. We realised, man, this is f****** great! It was our first song as a three‑piece and I was like, ‘Guys, I think I’ve got the fever. Let’s just f****** do it!’”

According to Jaret, bassist Rob Felicetti came into his own.

He said:  “Rob really stepped up.

“He co‑wrote three songs on the last record – he’s got six or seven on this one. We recorded 18 songs in 12 days and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Jaret didn’t hold back when comparing the new material to their recent albums.

He admitted: “As I look back, I think Sorry For Partyin’ in 2009 was the last great, great, great record we did.

“There’s stuff on the last two where I’m like, ‘Okay, maybe I shouldn’t have put that on there.’ But there is not one stinker on this album. It’s so f****** good it’s weird to talk about.”

He even says the trio believes it could top their most beloved releases.

He said:  “We’ve all said this might be the best Bowling For Soup album ever — which is crazy, right? Drunk Enough To Dance changed people’s lives. Hangover You Don’t Deserve, The Great Burrito Extortion Case… all of that. But I’m very excited.”

Despite the buzz, fans will have to wait a little longer.

Jaret said: “We were going to rush it out, but that makes zero sense.

“I’m on the road with Frank [Turner], then Simple Plan. So we’re probably looking at the autumn or even early next year — but it’ll be worth the wait.”

The group’s last studio effort was 2022’s Pop Drunk Snot Bread.

Bowling For Soup have been touring with Frank Turner on the Bowl My Bones tour.

The band are next due onstage on July 24 at The Pearl Theater in Las Vegas.
